Amazing! Blanka was very sweet and informative. She was so organized and made sure the group was kept together. She was also very accommodating (I wear hearing aids) so I walked close and her microphone was super helpful. Would definitely recommend doing a tour with Blanka!

Do not look any further, book THIS tour! Blanka covered a tremendous amount of INTERESTING information in an enjoyable entertaining manner. I didn't look at my watch the entire 2 1/2 hours and that's something for me. She handed out mini notes with common phrases and menu translations that came in handy the rest of the trip. Oh, and this girl knows her Chimney Cakes!

This was the best walking tour I’ve ever had in my life. We walked a lot, visited so many places and learned the history of Budapest, also useful “Hungarian” to greet people. Highly recommend!!!

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before joining our free walking tour

What is a free walking tour?
A free walking tour is a guided tour where you decide how much to pay at the end. There is no fixed price — you tip based on your experience, your budget, and what you feel the tour was worth. It is the most popular way to explore cities in Europe.
Is the tour really free?
Yes, there is no upfront cost. You simply show up, enjoy the tour, and at the end you can tip your guide whatever amount you feel is fair. Most people tip between €5 and €15 per person, but it is entirely up to you.
How much should I tip?
There is no set amount. Tip what feels right based on your experience and budget. As a reference, most guests tip between €5 and €15 per person. Our guides work hard to give you an amazing experience, and your tip is their income.
Do I need to book in advance?
We highly recommend booking in advance so we can manage group sizes and ensure the best experience. Walk-ins are sometimes possible but not guaranteed, especially during peak season.
Are the guides really local?
Absolutely. Every guide on our team was born and raised in Budapest. We are not expats who moved here — we are true Hungarian locals who grew up in this city and know it inside out.
Are the guides officially licensed?
Yes. All our guides hold official tourist guide licenses issued by the Hungarian authorities. This means they have completed the required training and examinations to be certified professional guides in Hungary.
Where is the meeting point?
The meeting point depends on the tour you book. The exact location and a Google Maps link are included in your confirmation email and on the booking page for each tour.
What happens if it rains?
Our tours run in all weather conditions. Budapest is beautiful in the rain too! Bring an umbrella or rain jacket and dress appropriately. In case of extreme weather (storm, dangerous conditions), we may cancel and offer you a spot on the next available tour.
Can I cancel or modify my booking?
Yes. You can cancel or modify your booking at any time through your account page using the link sent in your confirmation email. We appreciate it if you cancel at least a few hours before the tour so we can offer the spot to someone else.
Can I book more than one tour?
Of course! Many of our guests join two or even all three tours. Each one covers a different area of Budapest, and they complement each other perfectly.
Are children welcome?
Yes, children are welcome on all our tours. The tours are generally suitable for all ages, though younger children might find the full duration challenging. Kids under 6 do not need to be counted in your booking.
Is the tour accessible?
The Pest tour is mostly accessible, though there are some cobblestone areas. The Buda Castle tour involves hills and stairs and is not fully wheelchair accessible. Please contact us if you have specific accessibility needs and we will do our best to accommodate you.
